The World's Endangered Animals |
There are millions of animals all over the world. But some kinds of animals are endangered. This means that very few of these animals are living. If people do not protect them, they may all die. Today, there are over 40,000 endangered species. These animals live in many countries. The California condor, a huge bird, is an endangered animal in the United States. The giant panda in China is endangered, too. So is the Bengal tiger in India. Even animals in the oceans are endangered. The blue whale in the Pacific Ocean and the loggerhead turtle in the Atlantic Ocean are two of these. People are finding ways to protect many endangered animals. Some endangered animals live in national parks and are being watched carefully. The hunting of endangered animals is strictly prohibited by laws.
全世界有數百萬的動物，其中有些動物已經瀕臨絕種，亦即這些動物的存活數量非常少，如果人類不保護牠們，牠們就可能滅亡。 現今有超過四萬種瀕危的物種，這些動物生活在許多國家中。加州兀鷹，一種大型鳥類，是美國瀕危的動物。中國的大貓熊也瀕臨絕種，印度的孟加拉虎也是。甚至連海底動物也瀕臨絕種，太平洋的藍鯨和大西洋的赤蠵龜就是其中兩例。 人類正在尋找保護許多瀕危動物的方法。有些瀕危動物在國家公園裡生活，受到嚴密地看管，法律上是嚴禁獵捕瀕危動物的。 |
