Laura: Hey, do you see that guy over there? Jeffery: Do you mean the one with the spinning tops? Laura: Yes, he's incredible. I can't believe he's able to hurl that top through the air and make it land in that small circle. Jeffery: He's pretty good, but I've seen better. I once saw someone throwing tops about three meters high and having them land on tiny little plates on top of sticks. Laura: Wow! So is spinning tops a big activity here? Jeffery: Yes. It's actually one of Taiwan's many folk arts, and you often see people or groups performing at traditional travel destinations. Laura: Oh, OK. So can you spin tops like those guys? Jeffery: Ha ha, no. It's fairly normal for people to learn how to do it when they're kids, but I was never really very good at it. Laura: So, what folk arts are you good at? Jeffery: Well, I'm pretty good at paper cutting. I've always been able to make interesting or beautiful designs by cutting paper. Laura: You have to show me how to do that.
