【before you start】 娥蘇拉．勒瑰恩--( Ursula Kroeber Le Guin ) 1929年10月21日 Who 美國小說家。其小說特色在於東方道家與西方科幻的結合，並將性別意識帶進奇幻世界。第二個榮獲「科幻奇幻小說大師獎」的女作家。日本吉卜力工作室出品的《地海戰記》，便是改編娥蘇拉《地海》系列小說。 What 此篇演講標題出自娥蘇拉著名小說「黑暗的左手」，是第一本女權主義的科幻文學作品。於1969年獲得星雲獎、1970年雨果獎，並且建立娥蘇拉為領先時代的女權主義思想家之地位。 Highlight 以「左手」為標是一種借喻，說明右手與左手就像男人與女人、黑暗與明亮的關係一樣，兩者並無優劣之分。但在二元對立的思考邏輯之下，傾向將事物一分為二，區分好與壞。因此娥蘇拉提倡超越對立、連結對立，挖掘之外的可能性。 【演講精彩片段】 I want to thank the Mills College Class of '83 for offering me a rare chance: to speak aloud in public in the language of women. 感謝米爾斯學院提供給我一個難得的機會：讓我用女人的話語公開發言。 I hope you will all go forth from this ivory tower of college into the Real World and forge a triumphant career or at least help your husband to and keep our country strong and be a success in everything - instead of talking about power, what if I talked like a woman right here in public?
