Born in 1993 in Boca Raton, Florida, Ariana Grande always seemed to be headed for stardom. As a child, she joined a local theater group and performed in musicals such as Beauty and the Beast and the Wizard of Oz. Even then, her talent stood out. At the age of 15, Grande scored her first big theater role when she played Charlotte in the Broadway play 13. Grande cut her first single, "Put your Hearts Up," in 2011, and then followed it in 2013 with her debut album, Yours Truly. The soul influences on Yours Truly and Grande's powerful voice made her an overnight star. After releasing a successful second album, My Everything, in 2014, Grande released Dangerous Woman in 2016, which made her even more famous. In 2019, she won her first Grammy for her album Sweetener, and her song "thank u, next" became a global number one hit. The album of the same name also produced songs that occupied the top three positions on the Billboard Hot 100 song chart, which tied a record set by the Beatles. |
