Taipei is getting a new look in the Hsinyi business district. The project that is underway is an eco-friendly residential building that looks like a DNA molecule. The 20-story Agora Garden will twist a full 90 degrees as it goes from street level to the top floor. This means that the building will look different depending on where people stand. Also, only recycled and recyclable materials will be used in its construction, and the building will rely only on itself for energy. The beauty of Agora Garden will lie not only in its shape, but also in the greenery that will fill its balconies. Gardens are rare for Taipei residents, but those living in this unique tower will have it in plenty. Fruit trees, organic vegetables, flowers, and medicinal plants will hang from each level. The open-air balconies will even have room for garden furniture and nests for birds. What's more, everything will be kept alive with collected rain water and natural fertilizer from the building's composting facilities. Agora Garden will be a lush paradise once it is completed in 2016. |
